EXALTED RULERS MESSAGE:
Greetings! I am back from sunny California and I had a great time. I met a lot of wonderful Elks from around our great country. I
met the new Grand Exalted Ruler and had a picture taken with him, he is very nice. I picked up a lot of good information that I will
share with you at the August meeting.
Our monthly meeting for the month of August will be August 19th at 7:00 pm. The Trustees will be having a meeting at 6:15,
before our Tuesday night meeting. We will be having a House Committee meeting on Tuesday August 26th at 7:00 pm. ALL
ARE INVITED TO ATTEND!
On August 12th we will be having a cook out for our veterans, we are expecting a great turnout. Volunteers would be greatly
appreciated.

I hope that you all enjoy the summer! Stay COOL and SAFE!!

Cruise Night Special Events:
Thursday 9/11/2008-Northampton Elks will honor the area Police & Fire Departments at our weekly cruise night. We have
already contacted numerous departments and invited them and any cruisers, crime scene investigation vehicles and any and all
fire apparatus that can make it to 17 Spring St. at 5:00 pm, Thursday September 11th. We will have a special section dedicated
just to Police and Fire departments to park. Any officer on/off duty that shows up either in uniform or wearing a shirt showing
that they are part of our guardians will “Eat for Free”, compliments of Elks Lodge #997 and our Thursday night Cruise Night
team. If you haven’t been to one of our “Cruises”, this is the one to attend! This is just one small way of thanking those who
are put in harms way on a daily basis.
‘Vets for our Vets: There will be a special contingent of Corvettes present also. They are making a run to the local lodges on
Saturday 9/13 to raise money for our veterans. Buttons for support will be on sale at the 9/11 Cruise night and available at all
lodges in our district prior to the run. If you own a corvette and would like to participate in this excellent event, call Larry at 584-
5526. Please stop by and enjoy a great night with some great folks.

Golf Tournament Results:

The annual Elks golf tournament has now come and gone. With the economy as it is, we wondered, what would happen? But as
history has taught us, the Elks prevailed! The weather was outstanding, the company was cheerful and the meal was
outstanding. This years winners were: I. Krumpholz, B. Krumpholz, T. Godin, S. Gould & B. Mohr with a 59. What’s that tell you
about these guys? Hang on to your wallet! After all was said, done and paid, we still made about $1000. for scholarships and
$430. for ENF. We could not have done this for our children without your help.
Special thanks to the following people for donating their time and energy to this trustworthy event. Kitchen Crew: Scotty, Sam,
Lou, Dave, Diane & John.
Tom Lapinski for the prizes.
Frank Basile for the hole in one car from Burke GMC.
John Richi and ProLube for sponsoring the closest to the tire for a free oil change.
John Glen for running the ENF hole in one and Magda our Steward who had to deal with all of us.
And lets not forget to thank all of those who participated and made the event what it was.
