From the Secretary:
The following members will be voted upon for Life Member Status on Feb19, 2008 If you qualify for Life Membership
within an Elk’s year and after being voted upon you are eligible for life member dues the following year.
The group for this year to be voted is:
Richard Balise, Samuel Crescione, Raymond Goodrow Jr, George Lehan, William Letendre, Charles Lococo, Edward O’
Brien Jr., Richard O’Dea, Joseph Pelis Jr., Dr Kenneth Pompilli, John Rockett, and Robert Winnie.
If you feel that you are eligible and not on this list contact the secretary ASAP, and I will look into your claim.
As of the same meeting the members not paid for 2007 will be read on the floor prior to being dropped from the rolls.
This will give time for the final notice to be sent and for those who wish not to be dropped to pay up.
Fraternally,
John E. Cotton, Secretary, PER
DO YOU BELIEVE?
In the past few weeks, I have done a few things that have enhanced my belief in the Benevolent and Protective Order of
Elks and what we stand for. I was called upon to go up to the VA Hospital twice, once to decorate a ward and once to
deliver gifts to that ward. The wonderful feelings that I left with both times was great. My spirits are high and my sense of
doing something good for those in need has been renewed. It is so easy for most of us to sit back and be absorbed with
our own lives, that we forget about what the Elks do and those who need our help. These Veterans were so appreciative
of our efforts that it made me stop to think of just how lucky I am and all that I have.
I believe in the Elks, in my obligation and my pledge to help the Veterans, the Senior Citizens, and the Children.
Unfortunately, on both occasions, we had difficulties getting volunteers to help. What should have been a dozen (or at
least ½ dozen) Elks supporting our Veterans, it turned out to be three or four.
So I ask you, do you believe? Can’t you spare a few hours once in a while to help those who need our help? It takes
more than a handful of people to keep all our programs working.
Nomination of officers will happen at the February 5th meeting. Then the ER Elect will be putting together his committees
for the coming Elk year. Please volunteer to help out at our Lodge. Find something you can be passionate about and
come down to help us out. Let myself or the ER Elect know what you’re interested in and we’ll make sure you have the
opportunity to serve. I’m sure you’ll find the experiences very rewarding. If you’re not sure how to volunteer, contact
myself, any of the Officers, PER’s, or any of the regular volunteers. We’d be happy to help you find the right program for
you.
United we can make a difference in your life and the lives of others. Believe! Volunteer!
Barbara J. Franklin, PER, PDD

Pavilion Update:
To date, we now have a set of working drawings
with a architects stamp. These plans have been
paid for out of funds raised for the pavilion by you
the members, and we greatly appreciate that
support.
We are now in the process of going through the
Northampton building process. If all goes well, we
will be presenting a formal proposal to the trustees
and, with their approval, to the floor in the near
future. We wish to thank Chairwoman Sue and the
trustees for their help and guidance on this project.
In March we will be having a chicken dinner night,
watch the bulletin for details.
Many thanks to those who have supported us in
our efforts. We believe that the pavilion will be an
asset for our members, families and the community.
Fraternally yours,
Zak, Scotty and Sam
French Night:
Our monthly Nationality Nights are back. Due to lagging ticket
sales, German Night had to be cancelled. Please get your
tickets early for these events so that the committee members
can plan accordingly. These always prove to be a fun evening
and a delicious meal but, we need the support of all of our
membership to keep them going. Please join us on Tuesday
February 12th for French Night. Tickets are available in the
lounge.
Super Bowl Party:
It is time for the 3rd Annual Tailgate Party! On
Sunday February 3rd we will be grilling again!
This year it will be: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs,
Sausage Grinders, Wings and other things. Come
join us for this $7 all you can eat extravaganza!
Food starts three hours before the game and will
be served until you are full or the cook shuts down
the grill in time to see kick off, whichever occurs
first! So come on down and watch the game with
a group of fun loving football fans, just like you!
Elks Catering:
The Northampton Elks is proud to announce that we now have
four exceptional local caterers available to cater your party!
We are thrilled to welcome; The Side Street Café & Catering,
The Sunrise Pastry Shop & Catering, Special Request Catering
and Seth Mias Catering, (who some of you may have worked
with here in the past.) Please feel free to contact Magda for
more information about hall rental and choosing a caterer for
your event.
Mardi Gras Time!!
Please come join us in the lounge on Saturday February 16th
at 6:30 pm for our First Annual Mardi Gras Party! Come and
experience the sounds and flavors of New Orleans. Perhaps a
spice jambalaya? An authentic muffaletta sandwich? Some
Cajun tunes? A little bit of Zydeco? Ok, maybe we are a little
bit late for “Fat Tuesday”, but why not come on down and join
us for some good old French Quarter Fun! Laissez Les Bon
Tempes Rouler!!
Or as they say in New Orleans, Let the Good Times Roll!!
